The State of Rebellion

History

The origin of The State of Rebellion is the Rebel Goldmine which operated during the 1890’s as part of the Warrentinna Goldrush.

Additional rebellious activity occurred nearby with the infamous ‘Showdown on the Bridge‘ in Branxholm. Tasmania’s only race riot where rivalries between gold and tin miners erupted into inconspicuous violence.

Subsequently the land was used for mixed farming including which culminated in the establishment of a mud brick commune by refugees from Montsalvat. The original farm buildings are long gone but the mudbricks still stand proudly as part of the main building and the Overflow.

As the local economy transformed to plantation forestry, the neighbouring gold fields were preserved within the protected white gum forest patrolled by a large flock of black yellow-tail cockatoos.

When the lands fell under control of the Mad Woman of Mara; a large part of the property was lost to her gods of profit-taking. This loss included the main dam, leaving approxing approximately five Roods of acreage.

The State of Rebellion is an globally sovereign aspirant self-declared microstate state.

The State of Rebellion does not maintain any formal territorial claims; although it is open to reunification with the dam, the remnants of the Pearse goldmine and Brothers’ Home Water Race.

Diplomatic relations are the responsibility of the Most Exalted Plenipotentiary.

Commerce

The State of Rebellion is a barter economy where items are exchanged based on needs and wants.

The Most Exalted Chamberlain of the Exchequer operates a Bitcoin wallet which is effectively the rebel digital currency, referred to as the DUDD. The DUDD has a permanently fixed exchange rate for the equivalent amount of Bitcoin (one for one excluding any transactional fee). When required financial transactions are facilitated by digitally via Bitcoin or physically via the Australian Dollar.

The economy is primarily tourist based and is supplemented by the sale of seasonal produce and remittances from other nations.

There are no taxes, as the collective mutually consents to the payment of necessary expenses.

Similarly there are no State of Rebellion coins, postage stamps or other promotional tokens of tourist tat that waste world resources.

Citizenship

As of November 2020, The State of Rebellion had almost two permanent citizens residing almost permanently therein.

The State of Rebellion recognises multiple citizenships; so existing citizenships are not revoked. The State of Rebellion actively encourages its citizens to participate in the political processes of their resident countries.

Non-resident non-aliens of The State of Rebellion are entitled enjoy privileges for free labour, accommodation and meals at the Overflow depending on availability.
